Welcome
Muse from Nowhere is a Museum Sector Unconference, which aims to encourage honest and open discussion of the key issues facing the museum sector in the early 21st century; and it is the museum community who decides what those key issues are.
Our Spring Edition will run online on April 8th and 9th 2021. Consider joining in, either as a discussion lead, or a participant: details are below.
Booking will be open when the programme is released in March.

Apologies – this event is cancelled for the moment. We’ll be back later in the year!
Muse from Nowhere invites you to participate in an online Unconference, where you get to determine the content!
An unconference is not like a normal conference; rather than formal papers, it encourages discussion amongst its participants in thematic groups. This way, it encourages the discussion of immediately relevant topics and responses to current and ongoing situations in a way not possible for a conference planned a year in advance.
Muse from Nowhere will take place on 8th and 9th April, on Zoom. The programme will be determined by your submissions and once finalised it will be shared on this website.
You’re invited to submit a theme that you would like to discuss at the unconference. Submissions should be short and informal, containing at most: the topic, some context for the topic, and a few questions you’d like to consider in the discussion.
If you’d like to see the kind of things we’ve discussed in the past, please see our Programme for August 2020.
In your submission, please indicate if you would like to be involved as a discussion lead or as a participant. Please use the Submit Suggestion form. The deadline for submissions is 19th February 2021.
When the deadline has passed, a Google Form will enable potential discussants to vote on the themes beforehand in order to create the unconference programme.
The role of the lead will be to develop questions for the session, and lead and moderate the discussion. If the lead would like help with moderation, this may be possible to accommodate.
Please be aware that if similar themes are submitted by more than one individual, they may be grouped together and asked to work together to facilitate the session. You will be given a month’s notice before the event as to whether your submission has been successful.
